We pride ourselves on being the longest, consecutive-running local competition in the Miss California Org!

We provide young women in the greater North Bay Area with academic scholarships, and the opportunity to learn leadership skills and serve their communities.

Our Values Expand Beyond A Competition

Authenticity

Being a Miss and Teen means you show up as your most authentic self. We want every titleholder and candidate to learn everyone offers something unique and important to the Miss America Opportunity, their communities, and their own personal and professional (academic) lives. It’s not just about being yourself, but discovering more of yourself.

Community

Community is at the heart of the Miss America Opportunity and its essence lies in building connections and enacting service. We strive to connect titleholders to the public and local constituents. Each titleholder addresses the challenges facing our communities and leaves a legacy by pushing for positive change during their year of service.

Empowerment

Every sister is empowered through scholarship opportunities to pursue her academic goals, strive for success, show off her unique style, and serve her community. We encourage every titleholder and contestant to speak up, show up, and be a role model so others may be inspired by her brand.

Leadership

We believe everyone is a leader. We strive to equip our sisterhood to lead with an open heart, advocate for young women, and inspire others to join them in serving our communities. When we lead well and qualify one another, we create a legacy.

  • Catherine Liang, Forever Miss California 2022 and Miss Sonoma County’s Outstanding Teen 2014

The Miss Sonoma County scholarship program has been an incredibly formative experience in both my pageantry and professional journey. I first was introduced to MAO at 13 at a time when I was so shy and didn’t believe in the power of my voice and opinion. But when given the chance to serve as Miss Sonoma County’s Outstanding Teen 2014, I embarked on a year of learning what it means to be a Champion of Courage for my community. Specifically, I learned that 1. Your story is your most powerful asset, 2. As a titleholder you represent your community, your impact initiative, and the investment of everyone who believes in your personal development, and 3. This experience is a chance to define in your terms how to be a well-rounded person. A decade later, I’m even more grateful to the program for helping bring me out of my shell.

  • Jessica Taylor (Greer), Forever Miss Sonoma County 2012

I never considered myself a pageant girl, yet going through the Miss Sonoma County training and learning that the Miss America Organization empowers so many young women changed my whole outlook on the title. I learned to be a leader, become involved in my community, and further my education. Even the training process before the actual competition helps you become your best self, and each contestant walks away with invaluable skills and lifelong friendships no matter the outcome. I would highly recommend any teen or college student give this program a try!

  • Kaela Finney (Walls), Forever Miss Sonoma County’s Outstanding Teen 2012

Being crowned the inaugural Miss Sonoma County’s Teen in 2012 was a defining moment in my life. This role gave me the platform to share my passion for service while building confidence, leadership skills, and lasting friendships. I am forever grateful to the Miss America Opportunity for helping shape me into the woman I am today.

  • Katie Ann Horger, Forever Miss Sonoma County 2022

Being Miss Sonoma County 2022 was a life-changing experience for me. I never saw myself as a “beauty queen”, but that’s not at all what the Miss America Organization values. In my time at Miss Sonoma County, I got to volunteer at multiple different events. Not only did this get me more involved in the community that I love so dearly, but it opened up a lot of doors for me that I never knew were in the room to begin with. It’s not just a crown and sash, it’s a platform for women who are passionate about their community to speak on issues they are passionate about, while also making lifelong friends along the way.

  • Devyn Breslin, Forever Miss Sonoma County 2023

The Miss Sonoma County Scholarship Org is an experience I hope every young woman has a chance to share in her lifetime. It gave me space to overcome my fears of public speaking, meet so many inspiring and successful women through its sisterhood, and help me come out of my own shell. I’m grateful for this amazing committee and their support making my year special and one for the books!

  • yN’reh Gibson, Forever Miss Sonoma County 2024

Serving as Miss Sonoma County 2024 has been a life-changing experience that has allowed me to grow as a leader, connect with incredible individuals, and give back to the community that I will forever cherish. This opportunity has deepened my passion for service and taught me the power of resilience, kindness, and perseverance. It’s an honor I will cherish forever!

  • Lynna Xu, Forever Miss Sonoma County’s Teen 2024

Being Miss Sonoma County Teen 2024 was such an incredible experience! I've grown so much in confidence, met some amazing people, and had the opportunity to give back to my community, such as hosting girl-powered robotics workshops. From appearances to fundraising, every moment has been so meaningful and rewarding. I’m so grateful for the memories, the friendships, and the chance to proudly represent Sonoma County!
